Mid-Year Recap 2026/OCRC Turns 5!

CONSISTENCY

When we started Oak Cliff Run in August 2021, we decided that we would host our Thursday Social Run and Sunday Long Run every week, barring any unsafe/dangerous conditions. Rain, snow, extreme heat, extreme cold; we’re running. We figured if you were taking time out of your week to run/walk with us, we’d be there for you.

As we head into the back half of 2026, we’re proud to share that we haven’t cancelled a run in over 80 weeks! That’s a helluva streak! That’s over 15,000 runners/walkers! No matter what’s going on in the world, you know where to find us Thursday and Sunday.

COMMUNITY

One thing new for us this year was the roll out of “Last Thursdays”. We believe in the importance of supporting local Oak Cliff businesses. On the last Thursday of each month we’ve rotated to different establishments in Oak Cliff for our post-run hangs. We had fresh pints at Oak Cliff Brewery, delicious cup and char pizza at Cenzo’s, incredible tacos and frozen margs at Donde Los Tacos, the best damn queso blanco over at La Comida, and even took the party to the farm! Huge thank you to Elmwood Farm for having us last month on what served to be a magical night of food, brews and conversation.

In April our last Thursday was extra special when we partnered with Asics and the amazing folks at Herby’s for a one-of-a-kind night of miles, metal and flat-top burgers. We demoed the new Asics Super Blast III, jammed out to Black Sabbath and some folks even got tatted up!

COMPETITION

In March we hosted Are You Afraid of the Dark Pt. II Relay Race. A full detailed report of the race is in our last post, but needless to say, it was a night to remember. We’re in the lab right now finalizing plans for the next race, so be on alert. If you and your teammates think you’re the baddest, fastest in Dallas, come out and throw down!

CONNECTION

Finally, over the past 6 months there was a lot of discussion and debate concerning the future of the Jefferson Viaduct and S. Houston bridge; specifically the impact future construction would have connecting Oak Cliff to downtown Dallas. Despite the decisions made by City Council, we want you to know, we will continue hosting our Thursday and Sunday programming and we will continue to connect runners and walkers of all backgrounds here in Oak Cliff.

If you’ve benefited from this community at all, while never required, donations are always appreciated and helpful for us to continue our programs and special events.

Thank you for supporting OCRC these past 5 years; we’re excited for what the future holds!

A little gem from our first anniversary party. To many more!
